Oving Barn Conversion

As with all projects of this nature, a nimble and collaborative mindset is crucial in achieving a successful outcome. This heritage barn conversion in Oving, Buckinghamshire, involved a complete refurbishment and extension of an existing period agricultural building, transforming it into a stunning family home whilst preserving its historic character and architectural integrity.

The project encompassed a complete refurbishment, extension, extensive drainage, installation of new services, as well as simple but effective landscaping - each element carefully considered to respect the building's heritage whilst introducing contemporary living standards.

Compromise and on-site design change was integral to the process, as buildings of this age and bespoke nature throw up many challenges. From discovering original structural details to adapting to the quirks of a period agricultural building, our team worked collaboratively with the client and design team to find solutions that honoured the building's history whilst delivering a home fit for modern family life.

This project represents heritage revived and repurposed - sustainable regeneration at its finest. By repurposing an existing structure rather than demolishing and rebuilding, the project significantly reduced waste and embodied energy, whilst preserving a piece of Buckinghamshire's agricultural heritage for future generations. The conversion demonstrates how historic buildings can be given a new lease of life without compromising their character or architectural significance.
