Clarks Construction Ltd is a third-generation, family-owned main contractor based in St Albans, delivering education, commercial and industrial projects valued between £1 million and £10 million across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and London.

50 years, 3 generations

Founded in 1976 as Clark & Son, we've grown from a local building company into a principal contractor trusted with some of the region's most demanding projects - from transforming the historic 1926 Reptile House at London Zoo into Zoo Town, to boarding house and classroom projects at Bedford School, Berkhamsted School, Swanbourne House and St Albans High School for Girls. The name on the vans has changed once in fifty years. The family behind it hasn't.

What we do

We work as main contractor and principal contractor on new build, refurbishment and fit-out across four sectors: education - independent schools, academies and nurseries, including works delivered in term time on live school sites; commercial - office, gym and leisure fit-out and refurbishment; industrial - unit refurbishment, recladding and landlord works; and heritage - listed and church buildings, including our restoration work at Little Gaddesden Church.
