This was a challenging but enjoyable project to undertake. The listed nature of the building prohibited many of the client's design wishes, so compromise and intense collaboration with the local authority conservation team was key to its success. Every design decision was carefully weighed against the building's listed status, with our team working closely with conservation officers to ensure that each intervention respected the property's architectural heritage whilst delivering the modern amenities the client desired.

The result is a home where period character and contemporary luxury sit side by side in perfect harmony. A tier-seated cinema room with full soundproofing delivers a genuine theatrical experience, whilst the dual-purpose family room conceals a hidden dance floor for party time - a secret surprise that epitomises the playful ambition of the brief and demonstrates how listed building constraints can inspire genuinely creative design solutions.

At the heart of the home, a five-metre marble island worktop sits atop a hand-painted kitchen, anchoring an open-plan living space that flows seamlessly onto new solid oak herringbone flooring. The joinery packages to the study and master suite were designed and manufactured bespoke, with full audio-visual systems integrated throughout the cinema and family room to deliver a truly immersive entertainment experience.

Throughout the property, original features were given new life - including the revival and repurposing of the servant's bells as a characterful nod to the building's history. A new five-metre pitched, automated flush-mounted rooflight floods the interior with natural light, creating a bright, contemporary atmosphere within the historic shell.

Externally, the property received a full exterior refurbishment using Keim mineral paints and Welsh slate, ensuring that the building's historic facade is protected for generations to come. Keim paints, renowned for their breathability and compatibility with historic masonry, were selected to safeguard the fabric of the listed building whilst delivering a pristine, long-lasting finish.
