Accessible Quality - Residential Refurbishment & Extension
Project Overview
This compassionate and comprehensive project in Ealing was designed to enhance accessibility for the client. The project involved a full refurbishment, an extension, landscaping, and the creation of a specialised rehabilitation garden room - each element conceived with dignity, independence, and quality of life at its core.
The existing home was completely refurbished to accommodate the client's new accessibility needs, ensuring a comfortable and functional living space. An extension was added to provide additional space and improve the flow of the home, making it more accessible and user-friendly throughout.
An ultra-modern, dedicated rehabilitation garden room was created, providing a serene and practical space for physical therapy and relaxation - a space that genuinely supports recovery in a setting that feels less clinical and more like home. A hoist system was installed throughout the home to facilitate easy movement and ensure the client's safety between rooms.
Specialised sanitary ware was installed to provide ease of use and maintain dignity, with every bathroom designed to be fully accessible without compromising on aesthetics. Ramped and automated access was integrated to enhance independence and ease of movement, allowing the client to navigate their home and garden freely.
The landscaping was thoughtfully designed to provide accessible outdoor spaces, creating a harmonious blend of practicality and beauty - level pathways, raised planters, and seamless transitions from interior to exterior ensure the garden is a space to be enjoyed, not an obstacle to be navigated.
A significant challenge we overcame was that everything had to be transported through a single door, as there was no rear access to the property.
This project left Clarks Construction proud, as they were able to literally enhance the quality of life for their client - demonstrating that accessibility and luxury are not mutually exclusive, and that thoughtful construction can be genuinely transformative.
