Project Overview
During the summer of 2023, Berkhamsted School engaged Clarks Construction Ltd for the fourth consecutive year, to complete a number of key projects aimed at enhancing their facilities. Our longstanding relationship with one of the UK's leading independent schools has been built on consistent delivery within the tight window of the summer holiday - a period of intense activity where programme certainty is everything.
At the Castle Campus, the Headteacher's Office was moved to a more central location to improve accessibility and administrative efficiency. This involved the careful decommissioning of the existing office, structural alterations to the new location, and a full fit-out to a specification befitting the senior leadership team. The staff room was also relocated and fully refurbished, enhancing comfort and functionality for the school's teaching and support staff - creating a space that genuinely supports wellbeing during the busy academic term.
At the Kings Campus, the existing Wolstenholme and Loxwood classrooms and locker rooms were remodelled and expanded to offer state-of-the-art learning spaces, further enhancing the school's ethos of interactive and collaborative learning. The renovations aimed to provide flexible, interactive spaces that enhance student engagement, with modern fittings, improved acoustics, and integrated technology infrastructure.
Each package of works included structural alterations, full refurbishment, and the installation of new services, fittings and fixtures, and finishes. Every element was delivered to a high standard, with materials and finishes selected for durability within a demanding educational environment.
As with all school summer works projects, strict deadlines leave no room for error in planning and implementation. The successful completion of these projects year on year is a testament to our team's hard work and commitment - and to the trust Berkhamsted School places in Clarks Construction to deliver safely, to programme, and to the highest standard within a live educational environment.
